Video ‘Nothing But The Ghost Lights Left’

‘Nothing But The Ghost Lights Left’ is the 12th and final single from my ’12 Songs’ project where I’ve been releasing a new song and video at 12pm on 12th of every month for 12 months. The first single ‘Lisbon’ came out on 12 June 2020.

The song is based on a theatre manager in London who decided to leave one stage light on until the end of World War two to symbolise that they would always be there, even in hard times. The parallel with Covid struck me as I wrote the song in March 2020 when the first lockdown happened in Spain.

The single has again been mastered by the highly talented John Evans. ‘Nothing But The Ghost Lights Left’ is out today 12 May 2021 on all streaming platforms.

‘Nothing But The Ghost Lights Left’ (Nada Más Que Las Luces De Fantasmas Que Quedan) es el último y duodécimo sencillo de mi proyecto ’12 Canciones’ en cual lanzo una nueva canción y videoclip a las 12H del 12 de cada mes para 12 meses. El primer sencillo ‘Lisbon’ salió el 12 de junio 2020.

La canción está basada en un dueño de teatro que decidí dejar iluminada la luz del escenario hasta el fin de la Segunda Guerra Mundial para simbolizar que estarían siempre allí, aún en tiempos difíciles. Me pareciò que había un paralelismo con Covid porque escribí la canción en marzo de 2020 durante el primer confinamiento en España.

Además esta vez, el muy talentoso John Evans me ayudó con la producción y masterización. ‘Nothing But The Ghost Lights Left’ ha salido hoy el 12 de mayo en todas las plataformas de streaming.

‘To The Beat of The Drum’ is single number 11 from my ’12 Songs’ project where |’m releasing a new song and video at 12pm on 12th of every month for 12 months. I wrote the music in March 2020 and the lyric in March 2021.

The song is based on a story I read about a man who had been given a criminal record for kissing another man when they were soldiers at a time when it was illegal. Only in the eighties. Not that long ago.

The single has again been mastered by the highly talented John Evans.

‘To the Beat of The Drum’ (Al Ritmo Del Tambor) es sencillo numero 11 de mi proyecto ’12 Canciones’ en cual lanzo una nueva canción y videoclip a las 12H del 12 de cada mes para 12 meses. Escribí la música en marzo de 2020 y la letra en marzo 2021.

La canción está basada en un artículo que leí sobre un un hombre que tuvo antecedentes penales porque besó otro hombre cuando estuvieron soldados en un tiempo cuando fue ilegal. Solo en los años ochenta. No hace demasiado tiempo.

Además otra vez, el muy talentoso John Evans me ayudó con la producción y masterización.

‘Go, On I Dare You’ is single number 10 from my ’12 Songs’ project where |’m releasing a new song and video at 12pm on 12th of every month for 12 months. I wrote the music in March 2020 and the lyric in March 2021. 

The song is about looking for the courage to take chances in life. This time, the highly talented John Evans helped with mastering and production. ‘Go On, I Dare You!’ is out 12 March 2021 on all streaming platforms.

Astronautas – new video

The new Distance Of Hope single is ‘Astronautas’. It’s also the first song in Spanish of my ’12 Songs’ project where I’m releasing a new song and video at 12 on 12th of every month for 12 months. This is single number seis. Written in April 2020, I wanted to write an upbeat, positive and simple pop song as an antidote to the sad consequences of Covid-19 and the depressing state of the world at that time. A kind of manifesto to positivity! The English version is called ‘ I Want To Live In A World Of Love’. I asked my friends Carmen and Antonio for help with the Spanish lyric and loved the line ‘Somos astronautas mirando por la ventana’ (We are astronauts looking out of the window), hence the title of the Spanish version. ‘Astronautas’ is out 12 November 2020 on all streaming platforms. El nuevo sencillo por Distance Of Hope es ‘Astronautas’. Es también la primera canción en español de mi proyecto ’12 Canciones cuando lanzo una nueva canción y videoclip a las 12H del 12 de cada mes para 12 meses. Esto es sencillo numero seis. Escrito en abril 2020, quería escribir una canción optimista, positiva y sencilla come un antídoto a las consecuencias tristes de Covid-19 y el estado deprimente y agresivo del mundo en ese momento. iUn manifiesto a la positivismo, algo así! La version inglesa se llama ‘I Want To Live In A World Of Love’ (Quiero Vivir En Un Mundo De Amor). Pregunté a mis amigos Carmen y Antonio para ayuda con la letra española y me encantó la linea ‘Somos astronautas mirando por la ventana’, por tanto el título de la version española. ‘Astronautas’ sale el 12 de noviembre 2020 en todas las plataformas de streaming. ‘Invisible Armies’ video

‘Invisible Armies’ is out today 12th October and is the 5th in my ’12 Songs’ project where I’m releasing a new song and video at 12 on 12th of every month for 12 months. Written at the start of lockdown in March, it’s my tribute to the NHS, not just during the pandemic period, but in general. In an increasingly uncertain world, the NHS provides a vital public service which needs to be appreciated more by everyone, especially governments. En un mundo cada vez más inseguro, el Sistema Nacional de Salud prove un servicio publico fundamental que necesita ser más apreciado por todos, especialmente los gobiernos y aún más durante la pandemia de Covid. Video – ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’

Have you seen the video for ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’?

‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ is the fourth single in my ’12 Songs’ project where I’m releasing a new song at 12pm on the 12th of every month for 12 months. This one came out on 12 September 2020. 

This fantastic video was filmed by Almeria-based photographer and filmmaker Anthonio Leal. We wanted to achieve a black and white, melancholy video with a hint of surrealism in the Tabernas desert and I think we did it thanks to Anthonio’s vision.

Instead of releasing another traditional album, I wanted the ’12 Songs’ project to be about the songs themselves and so the styles are quite different between singles. There is no album ‘sound’ as such. The singles so far have included chill-out, indie rock and flamenco-tinged ambient pop and ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ is a kind of piano-based torch song/ballad.

Has visto el videoclip para ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ (El Arte De Desarrumbarse’)?

‘El Arte De Derrumbarse’ es el cuarto sencillo de mi proyecto ’12 Canciones’ en que lanzo una nueva canción a las 12H en el 12 de cada mes para 12 meses. Esto salió el 12 de septiembre 2020. 

Este videoclip estupendo fue rodado por Anthonio Leal, el fotógrafo y cineaste Almeriense.Queríamos realizar un videoclip melancólico en blanco y negro con un toque de surrrealismo en el desierto de Tabernas y creo que lo hemos hecho gracias por la visión de Anthonio.

Quería que esta colección de canciones hablan por ellas mismas, en lugar de crear un solo sonido de un CD, pues los estilos son diferentes entre los sencillos. Hasta ahora, he hecho chill-out, indie rock, pop con un poco de flamenco y la nueva ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ es un tipo de balada con el piano.
